Postcard Writing Retreats, 2026
“Writing letters to voters is one of the most effective ways to increase voter turnout.” Vote Forward
In 2020 we held a dozen online letter-writing retreats leading up to the 2020 General Election. Nearly 700 of us joined together and wrote more than 30,000 letters to voters in swing states. In 2024 we switched to postcards, and again this year we’ll be writing postcards. We’re supporting candidates we believe share our values, especially on issues such as peace, democracy, choice, and environmental preservation.
This year we’ll offer two types of postcard-writing retreats: our traditional online zoom retreat; plus in-person retreats in homes in the East Bay.
2026 Online Zoom retreats
These will be held from 10:00 to 1:00 Pacific Time, on the FOURTH SUNDAY OF THE MONTH, DURING JUNE, JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER. (That is June 28, July 26, August 23, and September 27). There will be periods of meditation, chanting, a dharma talk, and several hours to write postcards.
After you register you’ll need to purchase 25 blank postcards from etsy.com, USPS or similar source. We will email you a list of 20 voter addresses, and we’ll also email you a packet of materials, as in 2020, consisting of a Retreat Materials kit (Retreat Schedule, Guidelines, Chants); as well a zoom link for the meeting.

2026 In-person retreats
Our in-person retreats will be held at private homes in the East Bay, on June 21, Sept 6, and Sept 20. They will run from 10:00 to 1:00 Pacific Time. At these retreats, the host will provide all materials, including postcards, stamps, templates, and so on. For more info and to register for in-person retreats click HERE.
